Built in 1850, this museum dedicated to the memory of Icelandic author Jón Sveinsson is located in his former childhood home, which is also one of the oldest houses in Akureyri. Fully restored, the Nonni house maintains its original form, including olden-day household appliances.
Reverend Jón Sveinsson, a Jesuit priest, wrote a series of beloved children’s books based on fictional brothers, Nonni and Manni, who live on an isolated farm and run into all sorts of family drama and adventure. These books are very famous in Iceland and Germany, and they have been translated in over 40 languages.
